Today is January 5th, 2024. The world of deadly addiction seems like a distant dream from another life as I sit here today, in New Mexico, in this small home my wife and I built. I do not know what fate befell Jason. Many of the souls that I photographed are no longer with us, their addictions swept them away from this world. Judge not, but rather be grateful that we do not suffer with the demon of addiction. We like to credit ourselves for thins we have no control over. Some people were given the souls of a junkies, others the souls of millionaires. And, just like our favorite color, we really don’t get to choose.
