Social documentary photography takes things to a new level

Spread the love

I just received another email from a family member who found their loved-one on my website. They are inquiring as to their well-being. Social documentary photography takes things to a new level. All of a sudden my photography became a sort of conduit between the lost souls living out on the streets, and the family members that love them…

From the beginning my goal was to take street photography back to its roots in social documentary. Why? Because that’s where the real power to make change is at. That’s why I created #GritStreet. Our media has failed us. Real social doc, real deep journalism – hardly exists anymore.

While photography may not be an art in the proper sense, that does not negate its importance, nor the power that photography has. Photography captures time, and essence.

I feel a great sense of responsibility with my social documentary photography. It’s about real people, with real lives.
