I’m in the process of selecting the images for the next installment of “Against Doctor’s Orders: Heroin Addiction.” I’ve published four editions thus far, and I’m working on the fifth. Time-wise, the story is weeks out of sync with reality. The edition that I published yesterday actually took place weeks ago. The one I’m working on now, took place this past Friday.
Tomorrow will be a hard day. I’m going with Shaggy to the hospital, where he will have his foot amputated.
This image is one I’ve selected for the next edition, “Against Doctor’s Orders: Heroin Addiction – God Bless My Addiction.” It was taken in the same location where I often photographed John Lee. Shaggy is sitting on the same tree stump as John. This place is located at a park on the West Side of Chicago that sits between two rival gangs; the Conservative Vice Lords on one side, Gangster Disciples on the other.
There are often people at the front of the park who look like family folks selling snow-cones. In reality, they direct traffic to where people are being “served.” Yes, little kids directing heroin traffic…
