Tribal Conflict/Civil War: The Shooting Death of Alex Pretti

The villagers are storming the castle walls with torches!

If you decide to bring a gun to a protest and then decide to get into a physical confrontation with law enforcement, you will lose that battle. Did you not know this?

America isn’t a piece of ground. America is a set of political principles, a set of principles that transcend tribalism. In Federalist Number 10, James Madison brilliantly outlines the problem of “faction” within any society. The problem for Madison and Jefferson was finding a political system that allowed people to have liberty, while preventing any one tribe from gaining control of political power. To our framers of the Constitution, the history books were filled with the blood spilled by tribal conflicts, namely, religious wars. They then formulated a political system based on the idea that the rule of law supersedes power, and that the individual has basic rights, such as the freedom of thought, speech, and association.

We have now drifted far from the original course setout by our framers. We have descended back into pure tribalism. In this podcast, I discuss the cultural predicament we all find ourselves in, as most recently manifested in the shooting death of Alex Pretti by Federal Border Patrol agents in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
