December 23, 1880; Stinking Springs, San Miguel County, New Mexico Territory
I headed out towards my final destination located about twenty miles east of Fort Sumner, to an area once known as Stinking Springs. On December 23, 1880 Billy the Kid, Charlie Bowdre, Dirty Dave Rudabaugh, Billy Wilson, and Tom Pickett took shelter from the cold New Mexico winds in an abandoned one-room rock house loc ated just outside of Taiban, NM. At this location, Charlie Bowdre was killed, and Billy the Kid was captured for the last time. I’ll be publishing a full video production in the days to come.
