Most of the “protection dog” training we see online is actually police and military attack dog training. This type of training can get you into serious legal trouble, as we are civilians who do not enjoy the immunity provided to law enforcement and the military. Actual home protection dog training is the direct opposite of the type of training we see on YouTube channels, such as H. Lee Robinson’s channel, the American Canine Sentinel, and his website AmericanBandog.com. The type of training you see from Mr. Robinson is NOT protection dog training at all, and will potentially leave you and your dog open to big problems.
Last night we had an intruder on our property, and our dog Luca did exactly what a true home protection dog should do. If we had mistakenly trained Luca in the same manner you see on H. Lee Robinson’s YouTube channel and website, more than likely a person would have been unnecessarily bitten, and we would be on our way to having to defend ourselves in a court of law.
I’m currently working with a neighbor on proper home protection dog training with his Belgian Malinois.
