This morning, I’m writing photo captions for images I haven’t taken yet! I’m covering a political action soon, so I need to prepare. Gathering the basic information of who, what, where, when, and why can often be completed before an event takes place. Then, it’s just a matter of making adjustments after the event actually unfolds. Captions should be traditional straight-journalism, just the basic facts without injecting one’s personal feelings. Have you ever photographed a local political event? They can be fun, challenging, and these days even dangerous. Photographing a local political protest is a good way to cover world issues. Documentary and photojournalism opportunities are right outside your door! Get out and shoot!
