Living without refrigeration- pressure canning basics

Spread the love

The average American household throws away about 30 to 40% of the food they place in its refrigerator. My wife and I have lived without refrigeration for several years now. We have zero food waste here on our homestead. I pressure-can most of our foods into ready-to-go meals. If there is anything left, it goes to our dogs, pigs, or chickens. I also smoke and sundry meats as well. These are jars of pork and beans we made about a month ago from a pig we raised on our homestead. If you’re looking to be more self-sufficient while drastically cutting your food bill, pressure canning is an awesome option.

In this Living On Earth podcast, I cover many of the basics in getting started with pressure canning.
