REAL Emergency Fire Starting

People seem to live in fantasy lands these days. There is a big difference between the backyard bushcraft people watch on YouTube and real forest skills. The survival/ Bushcraft world is saturated with grown children living in fantasy worlds. People like myself fuck with their fantasies. Most of the survival and bushcraft channels on YouTube are trying to sell you one thing or another. I’m going to post a few videos from some channels that are real. They may fuck with your backyard bushcraft fantasy, but they are real just the same.
In an emergency out in the forest, the last thing you will want to do is try to start a fire by driving sparks off the back of your knife into a piece of charcloth. You also don’t want to rely on a Bic lighter. I’ve had lighters fail on multiple occasions when I really needed a fire fast. I’ve learned to rely on matches over a lighter. I include a roadside flare as a sort of match.
