Zombie Addiction In Your Head

Heroin addiction hurts everyone involved; the addicts, parents, friends and family. After two years documenting the destructive power of heroin addiction, the emotional impact started to have an effect. Several of the addicts that I photographed became more than just photo subjects, they became friends. Several of those people eventually died from their addictions, leaving an empty space in my heart, and their images forever etched into my memory. Their zombie addiction still lives within my head...

My video was removed from YouTube for "violation of community guidelines for nudity," And somehow this crap is just fine!

Obviously an important contribution to the YouTube "community."

Against Doctor's Orders Part Two: God Bless My Addiction

Heroin addiction is nothing short of evil. The US is currently in the midst of an opioid overdose epidemic, that not only includes heroin, but  prescription pain medications as well. In fact, many heroin addicts first developed their physical reliance on opioids by taking prescription pain medications. My two years spent documenting addicts has taught me much about the wold of addiction. Through these stories I hope to share my experience with you, and hopefully help someone to never ingest heroin in the first place. It's not worth the risk.

Kindle Edition Now Available: Against Doctor’s Orders: Part Two: Heroin Addiction - God Bless My Addiction

Just how far will a heroin addict go in order to satisfy their relentless craving for junk? As all too many families across the world know, the answer is staggering painfully. Join me on a journey deep into the world of heroin addiction in part two of this three-part series that I've titled, "Against Doctor's Orders." Through dark and grainy black and white photography, along with blunt and poetic writing, I pull back the veil that covers this often unseen world. After spending two years photographing heroin users on the West Side of Chicago, I now offer readers a unique view into the dark and deadly world of heroin addiction.  Kindle Edition

My Kindle eBook, Against Doctor's Orders: Part One, is now available for purchase at the Amazon Kindle Bookstore. As many people may know, I spent two years photographing heroin users on the West Side of Chicago. "Against Doctor's Orders" is the first series that I've written about the tragedy that heroin addiction is.

The purpose of this series is twofold. First, I hope that this body of work will help prevent someone from ever trying heroin in the first place. If someone has the right biological and genetic makeup, they will have just destroyed their lives. For them, the pull of addiction is just too strong for any amount of willpower or personal moral
character to overcome.

The only sure way to escape the claws of heroin addiction, is to not ingest the substance in the first place.

Second, my desire is to contribute in some small way to turning popular opinion and public policy towards prevention rather than criminal justice solutions or treatment centers when it comes to heroin addiction. I'm in support of a total halt to the "War On Drugs," which has done little more than to create an adversarial relationship between law enforcement and the general population. The War On Drugs is also the primary fuel for an ever growing black market, and the gun violence that comes along with it.
